The Fruit of Desire

Eve took that bite of the forbidden fruit eager to know more, to expand her mind and take in all that increased knowledge had to offer.   Oh, the promises that held.  In her quest, she lost her joy and, ultimately, her life.  She took all of humanity down with her.

How appropriate is the symbol of an apple on my devices as they call to me, offering expanded knowledge and all the secrets of the universe.   I have but to give myself to them and they will open my mind and fill me with knowledge and experiences one mere mortal man could never before have known.

And what of the cost?   Is it possible the unrelenting call of the limitless knowledge and experiences of the internet can steal my joy as I live, not in the moment, but in some cardboard virtual replication of life?   Has the proffered freedom to do and be what I desire whenever I desire become the tyranny of the never ending need to feed my desire?  Has Satan's delicious looking fruit once more sent humanity astray?  At the end of my days, will I look back and cherish the things I've seen and heard through a tiny glass window?  Or will I, instead, mourn the loss of the joy of warm human companionship, the teasing  lights of sun and shade as I stroll along with my mind travelling as freely and effortlessly as the spring breeze.

In the final evaluation, is more always better?
